94, 416 votes were cast through our fall campaign! During the winter….174, 314 votes were cast…in just 11 weeks (remember the Blizzard?)…almost double the number from the fall!

We had voters chime in from over ¾ of the states in the US, and several more from countries like Canada, Germany, Norway, Israel, Kuwait, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Malaysia, Korea, Colombia, the United Arab Emirates, and Spain. Ah, the power of the Social media!

The Get Busy Living Performer of the Week contest far exceeded our expectations, and all of the credit goes to those communities who wanted to give their athletes just a little recognition. For 24 weeks, since last August when we started this campaign, we have witnessed school and community pride explode every week as that competitive spirit shone through and through. Each week we got to deliver a check for $100 for a school’s PE Department, just a drop in the bucket, but so appreciated by every door we walked through. A total of $2600 was donated by Champion to a dozen different schools throughout central Illinois.

We at Champion Fitness Physical Therapy have had fun with this contest, and we hope you have, too. Be looking for us again in the fall. Can’t wait to get started!

One More Game V Set for September

One More Game V, a chance for former athletes and coaches to experience the feeling of what it would be like to be part of “The Boys of Fall” again, will be held at Williamson Field on the grounds of Pontiac High School on Saturday, September 3. The day-long event includes a morning workout, a motivational speaker during a lunch break, and an afternoon team workout before the game is played. Finally, a social is held for the players and their families after the festivities are over.
Jeff Schade, owner of Champion Fitness Physical Therapy and organizer of the annual occasion, feels the day has been a huge success for the prior four years and sees no reason why it can’t continue. “The weather normally cooperates, and the guys just have a great time. There’s just something that goes on when you put the pads on once again that makes the day so memorable. Plus, we are able to use the proceeds from the day to help benefit the Jill Bane Memorial Scholarship Fund. It is a win-win for everybody.”
In 2010, Pontiac Mayor Bob Russell and former PTHS Athletic Director & Coach Don Daluga proved once again that “veteran” coaches can still get it done as their White team used two first half touchdowns and a staunch defense to upend the Orange squad of the “younger” coaches, Eric Sweetwood, PTHS Social Studies Chairman and Mark Myre of WJEZ Radio 14-6 in ONE MORE GAME IV. Over 40 players participated, the second year in a row that the number allowed lots of platooning. More of the same is in store for 2011!
