Former NBA player, Illini standout from the 1989 Final Four team, and current ESPN analyst Stephen Bardo spoke to a pair of groups in Pontiac on September 28. After an intial performance at Pontiac High School in front of a crowd close to 1000, Bardo brought his message to St. Mary’s Grade School where he shared his ideas and thoughts with a group of around 225. Bardo, a longtime friend of Gary Brunner, former PTHS girls basketball coach, who was instrumental in getting the former Illini to come to Pontiac, advised his audiences to dream big, develop their own “road map” to success, and see themselves as a success by putting their own picture on an existing poster of an individual they would most likely want to emulate.
Champion Fitness Physical Therapy helped as well in sponsoring the St. Mary’s event.
